The Food Quest: Slow's Bar-B-Q

To read an introduction to our Food Quests, go here.

Saw It: Travel Channel's 101 Chowdown Countdown
Known For: Brisket Enchilada's
We Went: 9/6/10
We Had: Shared -Niman Ranch Brisket Enchiladas
Zach -JP's Revenge (a sandwich with pit smoked ham, mustard sauce, onion marmalade, and smoked gouda on a kaiser roll)
Jordan - Your Choice (pulled pork, baby back ribs, cornbread, and mac & cheese)
Location: Detroit, MI

This was on the same Detroit trip that we visited the battling coney island restaurants. First thing I have to clarify- Zach not only ate his meal, but also ate a very large portion of mine, that was NOT all just my food (though I suppose I could probably put all that down if necessary...) Secondly, this is currently my favorite restaurant we have been to on our food quest. I am sure at some point another will take it's place, but at this point it remains the best! The setting was very fun (it was warm enough that we got to sit outside) and it was a walled-in area with stone tables that looked as though they had grown up right out of the ground they looked so perfect there. All of the wood and metal that were used outside were salvaged from the building that they now inhabit- how environmentally friendly! Then there was the smell. The meat has been smoking on grills for hours and with the food grilling and the wood burning the aroma is heavenly! Finally the taste of the food itself was above par. There was not a thing we tried that we didn't like. Not even that we just liked it, but that it was above average! I definitely would recommend hitting up Slow's the next time you are in the Detroit area!

The Brisket Enchiladas- by far the best thing!!!
